The South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) has stated that it has no official comment to make regarding reports of alleged tensions between the national army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in and around the Heglig oil fields.

In a brief statement released for immediate distribution, the SSPDF command and leadership informed media personnel and agencies that, at this stage, no official position has been issued concerning the reported developments.

The statement was issued by Major General Lul Ruai Koang Wei, Director for Media and Press and SSPDF Spokesperson, from the SSPDF General Headquarters at Bilpam.

The SSPDF urged the media and the public to rely on official channels for any future updates on the matter.
