NBG's Minister of Agriculture and FAO Conclude Joint Assessment in Five Counties
The Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Minister of Agriculture, Environment, and Forestry, together with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and implementing partners, has concluded a joint assessment in five counties across the state.
Speaking to the media, Minister Garang Chan Atak said the visit aimed to assess the impact and challenges facing the targeted beneficiaries across the different counties.
“The Ministry, FAO, and partners conducted the assessment to observe the agricultural activities carried out by implementing partners with targeted beneficiaries, assess the impact and challenges, and raise awareness ahead of the rainy season,” he said.
The minister also visited a teak plantation site in Gabat, Barmayen Payam of Aweil Center County to assess its progress.
“I visited the site to assess it. My findings and recommendations will be shared with the National Ministry of Environment, and Forestry. We want to make this a national project where people will be trained on the proper use of teak trees in order to avoid random cutting,” he added.
Garang appreciated the County Agriculture Directors (CADs) for their continued commitment to implementing agricultural activities at the county level.
