President of Journalists calls on Media outlets to prepare their rooms for election coverage
The President of the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS) Oyet Patrick Charles called on Journalists and the media houses to prepare properly ahead of elections.
Oyet made the call on Friday during a Media Cluster Meeting in Juba that brough journalists and editors together to discussions on necessary preparations for 2026 elections.
In his opening remark, Oyet emphasized the importance of early preparation citing that every media houses should prepare.
“We as media institutions and journalists need to prepare to cover the 2026 elections. Whether elections are going to happen as planned or not, we should prepare as media to ensure effective coverage for the elections.” Oyet said.
The cluster meeting was conducted with support from the European Union and SDC through Nonviolent Peace force, to discuss preparedness for elections coverage in South Sudan.
The meeting focused on the state of readiness of media houses and journalists ahead of the 2026 elections, examining capacity gaps, resource needs, and lessons learned from previous election cycles.
