Journalist detained in Yambio after failing to present ID Card

A journalist in Yambio reported the detention of one of their colleagues during a government event.

In an interview with Aweil News Agency, a source who was present at the event said that Jackson Gaaniko, a journalist working for Yambio FM, was briefly detained by security forces today.

The source stated that the journalist failed to show any identification card to the security personnel, which led to a misunderstanding.

According to the source, the journalist was later released from brief detention and advised to always present his ID card whenever he is on duty.

Efforts to reach the management of Yambio FM and the press secretary of the governor for comment were unsuccessful at press time.
