Is Juba a Curse City for Aweilians Residents or There is a Hidden Agenda Against Us.

By; Moses Akuei! A Community Advocate.

Juba as a Capital City of the Republic of South Sudan, is a home to the people of Central Equatoria Region and the 64 tribes that lives in our country. Every ethnic gruop comes to Juba in search of good life and green pastures and that includes; a better life, opportunities, and quality Education.

I write this short article with heavy heart that, for the last 8 years, starting from 2017 till date, i have observed that Aweil my community has lost many young men and women with the great potential for the reasons we are not aware of? Yet, we remain silent and no one bother to raise this question to be discuss at the national level one day. We are finish here in Juba every now and then. In Juba today, you can not spend a month without hearing the sad news of a young person being killed by unknown people, this is disturbing us mentally. Now is the right time to speak up my people, we can not continue to live like this since Aweil Community in Juba choose to remain silent for years.

For countless times, young Aweilians people disappear easily without clear informations, others are being killed by so the called Unknown Gunmen, while the threat of them all, and which is very rampant these days in Juba, are the peer gruops that walks with pangas, metals, among other harmful materials they used to kill people.

It is a duty of every government to protects its citizens from both external and internal threats against them. And I urge the Government of Northern Bhar El Ghazal State headed by our newly appointed Governor, H.E Gen. Charles Dut to work with the Transitional Government of National Unity headed by our beloved President, H.E Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, and the other relevant security authorities to address this critical issue facing Aweilians residents in Juba.

Recommendations
In my own personal perspective, i believe these 5 recommendations would help the national government to address this complex case are:
1. Security Sector Reform (SSR): Establishing a professional, accountable, and unified national security apparatus (army, police, intelligence) that respects human rights. This includes the graduation and deployment of the Necessary Unified Forces (NUF).
2. Addressing the root causes of unknown gunmen, armed mitias, and dangerous peer gruops in Juba.
3. Working towards achieving the full implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
4. Implementation of the accountability and the rule of law.
5. Protection of civilians and community security.

Best Regards.
