General Agany Abdelbagi denounces Hussein Abdelbagi’s claims as “Big Lie” over force handover
General Agany Abdelbagi issued a strong rebuttal to Hussein Abdelbagi’s recent statement accusing their movement of failing to hand over forces to the government. Abdelbagi affirmed that all forces were fully handed over at the start of the security arrangements implementation.
He emphasized that the movement’s forces are under government control, while accusing Hussein Abdelbagi of illegally recruiting troops in Juba under the South Sudan Patriotic Movement (SSPM) banner—a clear violation of the Peace Agreement.
“I am the legitimate commander of the movement’s army, with Chairman Costello Garang leading us,” Abdelbagi stated, underscoring Hussein Abdelbagi’s awareness of this chain of command.
He called on the government to conduct an on-the-ground investigation to expose Hussein Abdelbagi’s falsehoods and restore truth to the situation, highlighting the urgent need for accountability and adherence to the Peace Agreement.
