Civil society welcomes gov’t commitment to conduct election in 2026

The South Sudan Civil Alliances welcomed the proposal to conduct the 2026 General Elections using data from the 2008 Population Census and the 2010 Elections.

In a statement to the media, Dabek Mabior Arok, Deputy Chairperson of the South Sudan Civil Society Alliances, welcomed the decision and expressed commitment toward the process. The group, however, outlined key important plans to be implemented by the government.

“We urge the Government of National Unity to prioritize the following actions: ensure timely funding of key electoral institutions, particularly the National Elections Commission (NEC) and the Political Parties Council (PPC), to guarantee that free, fair, and transparent electoral processes are conducted,” he said.
